Visitor Guide

Tangled Art Gallery is excited to welcome visitors to the gallery! We’ll be reopening on Novemeber 12th with our new exhibit, Sagatay (New Beginnings).

Since our reopening, we’ve introduced some new protocols to keep our community as safe as possible. Please review this page to find out about our COVID-19 policies. We are not open for drop-in gallery visits at this time. You can use our Calendly booking system to schedule an in-person or virtual tour, facilitated by a Tangled staff member or volunteer over Zoom.

We’ve moved! Tangled Art + Disability is now located in 401 Richmond, Suite 124.

(We haven’t moved far. We are in the suite directly beside our old one. If you’re standing in front of where Tangled used to be, follow the hallway to your right and you’ll find us at the next door.)

Our new hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 12:00 to 5:00 PM

Getting to the Gallery

Tangled Art Gallery is located in Suite 124 on the main floor of the 401 Richmond Building.

401 Richmond is located on Richmond Street, just east of Spadina Avenue. If you are driving, please note that Richmond Street runs one way going west.

The closest accessible subway station is at Osgoode Station. The closest accessible streetcar stops are the 510 Spadina Queen Street West stop (going south from Spadina Station), and the 510 Spadina Richmond Street stop (going north from Union Station).

In-Person Visits and Tours

Tangled will be offering in-person tours for small groups of up to 5 people at a time. We are not currently accepting drop-in visitors. You can now book a personal guided tour during regular opening hours, 12:00 – 5:00, Wednesday – Saturday, on our Calendly page. To book an in-person visit, please choose the “401 Richmond St.” option under “Location” after you choose your time slot on Calendly.

You will be asked to wear a mask and sanitize your hands when you arrive. For contact tracing purposes, we will ask you for your name and contact information, so that we can get in touch with you if you come in contact with COVID-19 at the gallery.

Proof of vaccination is now required in Ontario for people aged 12 and older when entering non-essential indoor settings. Before entering Tangled Art Gallery, a staff member will verify your proof of vaccination along with a piece of government issued ID such as health card or driver’s license. You can access your proof of vaccination from the Ontario government website. We will also accept documented exceptions as outlined by the province of Ontario.

Virtual Visits

Tangled will be offering virtual tours for those who cannot or wish not to attend the space in person. If you would like to experience the Tangled Art + Disability Gallery from your device, you can now book a personal guided Zoom tour during regular opening hours, 12:00 – 5:00, Wednesday – Saturday, on our Calendly page. To book a virtual visit, please choose the “Zoom” option under “Location” after you choose your time slot on Calendly. We are happy to give tours to multiple visitors at once over Zoom, so if you have a group, you don’t all have to be in the same place to book a tour together.

This tour will be led by a Tangled Gallery Assistant, and can be experienced from anywhere you feel comfortable. Captioning will be available. Please be aware that the motion of the camera may cause motion sickness. Please email [email protected] if you would like to book access accommodations such as Visual Description or ASL. COVID-19 Safety Policy

What we’re doing to keep visitors safer

To keep our community safer, Tangled is inviting visitors to book their gallery visits as individuals or small groups (maximum of 5 people per group) so that social distancing within the gallery is possible.

The 401 Richmond Guidelines for COVID-19 Safety are:

  • Masks must be worn in building hallways and common areas.
  • Use only the washroom located on your floor closest to you (if accessible to you), one person at a time.
  • No phone calls, meetings or hanging out in hallways or common areas.
  • Building doors are open Wednesday to Saturday, 12:00-5:00pm.

We’re excited to be able to welcome our community back to the gallery. In order to prioritize the health and safety of our visitors, here are the things we’re doing:

Mask Policy

We ask that all visitors wear a mask while visiting Tangled Art + Disability. If you don’t have a mask, we’re happy to provide you with one.

Contact Tracing / Health Screening Survey

When you visit Tangled Art + Disability, you will be asked for your name and phone number or email address, so that if you come in contact with COVID-19 while at the gallery, we can inform you. Your information is confidential and will not be shared for any other purpose. We’ll also ask to see your proof of vaccination, as per government guidelines.

Sanitization

We will sanitize any high touch surfaces often, and have increased our regular cleaning schedule.

We ask that you please sanitize your hands when entering and leaving the gallery.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms at 401 Richmond are located on opposite sides of the building, by the Roastery Coffee House and Open Studio. The all-gender washroom located by Open Studio and the women’s washroom located by the Roastery have accessible stalls.

In keeping with the 401 Richmond policy, please use the bathroom one person at a time, plus a support person if needed. If someone is using the washroom, please wait until they exit. Please leave sufficient room for entering and exiting the washroom to maintain a physical distance.

Elevators

In keeping with the 401 Richmond policy, elevator use is limited to a maximum of 2 people. People inside the elevator must be 2 metres apart at all times.
