Tangled on Tour: Thunder Bay (2015-2016)

Tangled is happy to return to Thunder Bay for the second year in a row for our 2015-16 season! Last year, we were proud to present 3 days of programming; engaging people with visual art, film and performance and workshop. Special events included; artist talk with Tangled 2014 artist in resident, Janna Brown at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery and Geometry of the Circle, a playful duet combining dance and sound. Conversations with Strange Beauty: Janna Brown

Still Echoes Resound, is inspired by my lived experience but dwells in the echoes—the stories that have become a story. Working in abstract and representational forms using textile pieces rendered on leather and fragments of a childhood quilt, mixed-media, poetry, audio and moving images, I use my body as an artifact—sharing tender confirmations from hollows of loss. My process began with a longing for that irretrievable something while exploring concepts of time, body, trauma, and unfolding of memory. read more

In Celebration of International Women’s Day on March 7th, Tangled Art + Disability and the DisAbled Women’s Network Canada come together to host an evening of media works and discussion by women artists with disabilities.
